According to Kotwali police, at around 10 a.m. on Thursday, 35-year-old Prakash Singh Parmar from Jagat Vihar Colony, Shyampur, shot himself in the head inside his home. His wife and other family members were present at the time, but no gunshot was heard, and the door was initially locked from the inside.
His wife sensed trouble when he didn’t open the door, and after calling his brother-in-law to check, they found him on the bed, blood-soaked and dead, with a pistol and shells beside him. Police retrieved the firearm and conducted a forensic investigation. SI Vinesh Kumar said in initial findings, it appears to be a suicide, but further investigation is ongoing—particularly regarding the source of the illegal weapon and any possible family disputes.
Prakash was married, had a daughter, and his wife is currently pregnant. The news of his death on his birthday has left the family—and the whole neighbourhood—traumatised, and grief-stricken relatives are in shock.
