In a disturbing incident from Gurdanu village in Dwarahat block of Uttarakhand, a woman has been completely socially boycotted by her community — not because of her own actions, but because her son was accused of murder.
The villagers have cut all ties with the mother, forbidding anyone from speaking to her or even offering help. Her life has been reduced to isolation and silent punishment, despite there being no evidence of her involvement in the crime. Locals reportedly fear backlash for showing sympathy, and the boycott has turned into a form of community pressure and public shaming.
Thankfully, the matter caught the attention of local authorities. A team including the SDM and police officials visited the village after receiving the complaint. Officials confirmed that the boycott has no legal standing, and they are working to restore the woman’s basic rights and dignity.
💬 “The woman has no role in the case, and we’re ensuring her protection and access to essentials,” said an official.
